Fishing Buddha is an evolving blog. Before I begin to tell you what this blog is about I must caution you that, although, the general mission of this blog will remain constant, how we get there will evolve as time progresses. To give you an idea, I will be keeping the links to the past versions of Fishing Buddha’s purpose and mission on this page for you to see the evolution of this blog.
Version 2.0 – January, 2012
Fishing Buddha is a blog and a thought-process. As I read, travel, write and meet new people I have come to one simple realization. Everybody wants to be happy. However, not many seem to realize how when the answer is right under their nose.
I found out that the secret to happiness is to only do things that make you happy.
It sounds so simple and yet it’s true. The moment I stopped trying to figure out the enigma that I thought happiness was, I became happier. Then, I concentrated on only doing what makes me happy. I realized that I was not happy the way I presented myself to the world. Deep down I was this thinking, philosophical person, but I was afraid to show that side to the world around me. I am still in college and I was afraid that I would be thought of as “way too deep”, “Dude needs to chill out” type. However, the moment I stopped worrying about that and accepted who I was, I became happier. As the people around me saw how happy it made me, they were intrigued. They started reading my essays, they started asking questions, and they even started coming to me for advice. Now, they call me the Fishing Buddha (I prefer Amit).
As I went about my journey to find myself – what makes me happy, what am I good at, what is my passion – I discovered that it’s the small things in life that make the biggest impact.
So, I write about these small things in life. You are busy enough trying to build your towers with the bigger blocks – career, relationships, family, healthy living, passion, dreams – but I want to help you with the small grains of sand, gravel and concert that goes between these big blocks and hold them together.
Fishing Buddha is just a collection of my thoughts and daily inspirations. I write daily and also publish almost daily. The only days I do not publish is when I feel that what I wrote that day needs more thought and if it does not add any unique value to the blog. I promise that these days will be very rare.
So, that’s the current mission and purpose of Fishing Buddha. It may change in the future as I learn more about life. I hope you will enjoy this gradual evolution of a person, lifestyle, thought-process and a blog with me. Happy reading!
